Fletch is contributing to the delivery of the Ipswich Hospital Expansion as part of Queensland's Capacity Expansion Program, providing critical healthcare infrastructure to support one of the state's fastest-growing regions. The project centres on the delivery of a new Acute Services Building and a significant expansion of the existing hospital campus, increasing capacity and enabling future healthcare growth.
The expansion includes 200 overnight beds, a Coronary Care Unit, a new Emergency Department with medical imaging, six operating theatres, a Central Sterile Services Department, support services facilities and additional parking. Delivered within a live operational hospital environment, the project requires extensive planning, staging and stakeholder coordination to ensure uninterrupted patient care throughout construction.
Key Challenges
Construction within a live and operational hospital environment
Maintaining continuous patient care and hospital operations throughout delivery
Delivery of complex acute healthcare facilities, including emergency, perioperative and critical care services
Integration of the new Acute Services Building with existing hospital infrastructure
Managing hospital access, logistics and stakeholder interfaces within an active healthcare precinct
Extensive staging and service coordination to minimise disruption to staff, patients and visitors
Future-proofing infrastructure to support long-term expansion of the campus
Outcome
Upon completion, the Ipswich Hospital Expansion will significantly enhance healthcare capacity across the region, providing modern clinical facilities, expanded inpatient services and critical infrastructure to support future growth. The project demonstrates Fletch's capability in delivering complex healthcare environments while maintaining operational continuity within a live hospital setting.
